Hummus and Pita Bread

Ingredients

 

  • 1 can of chick peas

  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed

  • 1 lemon, juiced

  • 1 c. Tahini paste

  • ½ c. and 2 tbsp. extra virgin oil

  • 1 pinch cumin

  • 2 c. bread flour

  • 1 c. warm water

  • 1 tsp. dry yeast

  • 1 pinch sugar

  • Salt, to taste

  • Pepper, to taste

  • Electrolux Masterpiece blender

 

Instructions

 

Hummus

  1. Combine the chick peas, garlic, tahini paste, lemon juice and cumin in the Electrolux Masterpiece Collection blender.
  2. Mix for 3 minutes then slowly add ½ c. extra virgin olive oil. Season with salt and pepper and continue mixing for 3 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place in a serving bowl and sprinkle with olive oil and ground paprika to serve.

 

Pita Bread

  1. Preheat oven at 500°F with a pizza stone.
  2. Mix the yeast with the warm water and let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. In a food processor, combine the flour, pinch of salt, 2 tbsp. oil and the water/yeast. Mix for 4 minutes until the dough become elastic. Remove and divide in two balls; place them on an oily pan and cover with plastic wrap.
  4. Let proof at room temp for 1 ½ hours.
  5. With flour and using your finger, flatten the dough and bake for 3-4 minutes then remove from the oven.
  6. Brush some olive oil onto the bread, cut into 8 slices and serve with the hummus and some sliced vegetables.
